Inner and Outer Beauty

Untitled

The human heart is filled with happiness when it sees or feels something beautiful. This is because there is a kind of magnetic magic in beauty. Most of us get attracted by a beautiful person, object or a natural landscape.

Researchers have found that:

1. Good looking students get higher grades from their teachers than students with ordinary appearance and,

2. Attractive patients receive more personalized care from their doctors.

3. Even handsome criminals receive lighter sentences than less attractive convicts.

4. How much money earns may also be influenced by physical beauty.

Greater success with the opposite sex.

On the other hand, it is not always true that a beautiful person is beautiful at heart too and that there will be peace at home. It may not be good and healthy to go for outer looks only- the beauty may be deep skin only. Moreover we must ask ourselves: are beautiful people always happier people? Then is it for ever? Or is it in the eyes of the beholder.

Some people believe that when there is outer beauty, one’s mind is happy and when there is inner beauty one’s soul is happy. So what we need is a balance between these two so there may be harmony, love, peace and above all, happiness. One can live with a lame or dumb person but one cannot live with an insensitive and heartless person. A beautiful looking person may be filled with hatred, mischief or lack of compassion for others.

Some philosophers tell us that we cannot fully enjoy a beautiful waterfall, a majestic mountain or the brilliant stars in heaven without inner beauty.

Beauty is a wonderful thing and we all should work to achieve both inner and outer beauty.

After all we are all beautiful in our own way!
